Show Your Heart Some Love

It's a few days after Valentine's Day and I'm reflecting on all the pink and white and red hearts that dominated the landscape on balloons and baskets and banners and more, all doing their best to symbolize love in its many forms.

As I'm reflecting, my mind goes to thinking about our real heart, that organ (muscle) that's about the size of your fist, located just behind and slightly left of your breastbone, pumping blood through your arteries and veins on a continuous basis from the time we're born until . . .

And the question I ask myself as I contemplate this wonderful biological feat is, are we doing enough to take care of our heart? What if our hearts could speak back to us? What would they tell us? What would they want us to know?

The more I ponder these questions, the more I realize that our hearts actually do speak to us.

When our arteries clog up and our valves stop functioning properly, our hearts are sending us a clear message: the way you're eating/living is killing me! Literally! But it doesn't have to be that way.
